GROUP CANVASSES SUPPORT FOR AMAECHI

Group canvasses support for Amaechi

The people of Rivers State particularly the people of Tai Local Government Area have been urged to support and vote for Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, the PDP governorship flagbearer in this year’s general election in the State.

The call was made by a group called Tai Vanguard at the end of its one day fasting and prayer session organised in the area recently.

Speaking to Weekend Tide at the end of the fasting and prayer session, the National Chairman of Tai Vanguard, Comrade Gideon B. Deemor, said the choice of Amaechi was informed by the policies and programmes he initiated in the state through his legislative and pragmatic leadership style as the speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly.

Comrade Deemor recalled that the passage of the state labour law in 2000 had gone a long way to not only rekindle the hope of youths for gainful employment but has also led to the creation of more jobs to the indigenes and non-indigenes in the state.

The youth leader said Amaechi’s humility and leadership styles had marked him out among other contenders to the governorship seat and enjoined the people of Rivers State to vote massively for him during the elections.

According to him “voting Amaechi would promote creation of job, education, good health programmes to the people” he asserted.

Also speaking, a one time minority leader in Old Rivers State House of Assembly, Chief Hon. J. N. Nmebe called on youths in the State to shun all forms of negative activities that are inimical to their future and urged them to channel their energy towards activities that would bring development to the state.

He appealed to the youths to embrace God, respect the elders, be humble and patient as he put it, humility always lead people to success.

Delivering a sermon, on the topic, “leadership,” the parish priest of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Kira, Tai, Rev. Father Innocent Waabi, advised Christians to hope and trust in God and added that power and authority belongs to God.

He called on Christians to emulate the leadership styles of our Lord saviour whom he said exemplified the true test of all leadership qualities noting that the level of good governance and the fear of God exhibited among those in position of authority in the state attest to the fact that they are truly “God sent.”
