WHY RIVERS YOUTHS ARE BACKING AMAECHI …OGONI YOUTH PRESIDENT
A prominent Youth Leader in Rivers State , Mr. Marvin Yobana has given reasons why Youths from various backgrounds in the state are throwing their weight behind the candidature of Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, to emerge as the next Governor of Rivers State.
Mr. Marvin Yobana, who stated this today in an interview with newsmen in Bori, Khana Local Government Area, said Rivers Youths have been positive about the posture of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly and the PDP Governorship flagbearer Hon. Chibuike Amaechi.
Mr. Yobana who is also the President of Ogoni Youth Council (OYC) said Hon. Amaechi has demonstrated that he understands and appreciates the problems of the Youths in the state from his position as the Assembly Speaker, noting that he is visionary and has always identified with the youths of the state.
He thanked the PDP in the State for the choice of Hon. Amaechi and for giving youths the opportunity to prove their leadership qualities, stressing that most of the aspirants that contested the PDP primaries in the state are youths.
The Ogoni Youth President described Hon. Amaechi’s leadership in the House of Assembly as most peaceful in the state, emphasizing that at the peak of youth restiveness in Rivers State , the Speaker made tremendous contributions to the resolution of the crisis.
“We the youths of Rivers State have so much confidence in the candidature of Amaechi, I think if you put him against other candidates in other parties, the youths’ first choice would be Amaechi because of his humility, dedication to curbing youth restiveness and his humble nature has endeared himself to the youths”, Mr. Yobana declared.
The Ogoni Youth President hinted that the PDP flagbearer has received several awards from the Youths for his outstanding leadership qualities which include award from the coalition of Rivers Youths, observing that should he emerge as Governor, Youth restiveness in the state would be minimized, and Youth empowerment would increase.
According to him, there is enough reason to call on the people to support Hon. Amaechi, noting that the speaker has abstained himself from gangsterism, cultism or any violent group in the state and thanked him for the law banning the operation of motorcycles in the night in Rivers State which has reduced incidents of crime in the state.
“We need people who are going to move the system forward and consolidate the gains already achieved by the present state government, people who are going to give hope, create employment for the youths”, Mr. Yobana said, adding that these qualities are found in Hon. Amaechi and assured of total support from Rivers youths.
