The leadership exposure and experience of the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship flag-bearer, Mr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, will be beneficial to the people of the state when he emerges as the governor this year.
The Co-ordinator of Rivers Movement for Good Governance, Mr. Tamuno Whyte, who stated this in Port Harcourt in an interview with newsmen, said the experience acquired in presiding over the best and most stable House of Assembly for eight years, would be an added advantage to Amaechi, should he become the governor of the state.
Mr. Whyte noted that the PDP governorship flag-bearer had served his apprenticeship in politics before ascending the exalted position of Speaker of the state Assembly, and based on performance, he became the chairman of the conference of Speakers in Nigeria.
The coordinator of the movement, which is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) based in Port Harcourt, said the state Assembly under the leadership of Mr. Amaechi, had recorded many successes, especially as the impeachment, removal of House officers and other dimensions that greeted other state Assemblies were absent in the state.
He remarked that the collaborative support which the state executive arm of government received from the Assembly was also responsible for the remarkable achievements which Dr. Odili\'s administration recorded in the state, stressing that the bridge which the speaker provided can not be undermined.
According to Mr. Whyte, “having piloted the most peaceful state assembly in the federation, if he becomes the governor in May this year, Mr. Amaechi is likely to rely on the experience gained over the years in his political career to consolidate on the gains made by Dr. Odili”.
Mr. Amaechi will equally enjoy the advantage of having worked in the kitchen cabinet of Governor Odili, who is respected as an astute politician, but added that the P DP flag-bearer should be mindful of the giant strides of Governor Odili and plan to take the state to a higher level.
