A People Democratic Party chieftain has urged all the party heavy weights in Rivers State to set aside personal and sectional interests and work with the party’s gubernatorial flag bearers, Rt. Hon. Chbuike Rotimi Amaechi to achieve victory in the forthcoming general election in the country.
The PDP chairmanship aspirant in Ahoada East Local Government Area, Chief Cassidy Ikegbidi made the call Monday while chatting with The Tide in his palace at Ihugbogo, Ahoada East Council area.
Chief Ikegbidi who is also the Eze Egbeleji of Ekpeyeland noted that the era of upland and riverine political dichotomy was gone, saying that today’s politics embraces social justice, inclusion and even development which informed the need for Rivers PDP family to close ranks and vote Amaechi as the successor to Governor Peter Odili.
Chief Ikegbidi called on all aggrieved members of the PDP to sheath their swords and work with Amaechi to ensure the party’s success, which according to him, was for the overall interest of the state.
He noted that with Amaechi as governor and the support of the Ikwerres and good people of the state, would continue the state’s pace of unmatched development and people-oriented policies and programmes from wherever the Odili administration stops.
Chief Ikegbidi dismissed reports of petitions against Amaechi by some groups which attracted the attention of the Nuhu Ribadu-led Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as the handiwork of disgruntled elements.
He asserted that such were essential to test their integrity as leaders, and expressed optimism that time and justice will exonerate them as their honesty were evident enough for all to see.
He wished the people of Rivers State a happy new year and a smooth transition to another civilian administration.
