The Rivers State co-ordinator of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), campaign committee, Chief Lolo Ibieneye has reiterated that there was no governorship candidate in Rivers State other than Rt Hon Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi.
Chief Ibieneye, who stated this Saturday at Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri, while speaking with journalists, affirmed that the party has no other guber flag-bearer in the state.
He indicated that the party will soon commence electioneering campaign in the state after the flagging off of the national and zonal campaigns.
The campaign co-ordinator was optimistic that the South-South will be the first to flag-off the campaign among other geo-political zones across the nation.
Chief Ibieneye, who is also the commissioner for water resources in Rivers State said the state PDP will soon start its campaign for the April, 2007, general elections, adding that the campaign slogan will be “consolidation”.
He explained that the consolidation slogan was to consolidate on what the present government in the state under the leadership of Dr Peter Odili has done.
According to him, “the purpose of this slogan is continuity of His Excellency, Dr Peter Odili’s clean records in the state.”
Commenting further on the hope of the party in winning the election in the state, the PDP campaign co-ordinator said that he was hopeful that the party will sweep the polls across the local government areas in the state.
He, however, said that the party will not sleep but embark on an aggressive grassroots campaign, in all the wards in the state, and urged members of the party to be ready to work, saying, “once we start, there will be no resting till the election is over.”
