The Rivers State House of Assembly has unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the state Governor, Dr. Peter Odili for his excellent performance in the governance of the state throughout his tenure.
The state lawmakers passed the vote yesterday after the House Leader, Tamunosisi Gogo Jaja (Opobo/Nkoro) gave a brief success story and examination of Odili administration in the state.
The Deputy Speaker, Hon. Tonye Harry presided over the session during which virtually all members were elated and supportive of praises to Odili’s developmental and empowerment policies in the state.
In his brief, the House leader observed that since 1999, the state has witnessed unprecedented people-oriented projects initiated by Dr. Peter Odili, noting that the Trans-Kalabari Road and the Ogoni/Andoni/Opobo Unity Road would continue to be fresh in the minds of the people of the state, especially, the Riverine people.
Other notable achievements of the Dr. Odili administration as highlighted by the leader, include the new Government House, new House of Assembly Complex, new judiciary complex as well as the computerisation of the state judicial service.
Hon. Gogo-Jaja further said that the state under the present administration has enjoyed free scholarship scheme, provision of free health services for children and elderly as well as provision of free ambulance services for emergencies.
The lawmaker also opined that the state Independent Power Projects and the upgrading and renovation of the Omagwa International Airport by the Odili administration will continue to be landmarks in the history of the state, noting that Dr. Odili has served the state creditably well to his pledge in 1999.
He stated that by May 29, 2007, the state will witness another change in its leadership with a new governor and new state Assembly members on board, adding that it was pertinent to extol the good works of Dr. Odili in the state, as we march very fast to the end of his administration, he added.
