The Rivers State House of Assembly will today commence the screening of candidates nominated as caretaker committee members of the 23 local government areas.
The exercise had earlier been scheduled for Wednesday, the 6th of June, 2007, but was postponed following the decision of the House to conduct new members on facility tour of the Assembly complex.
A statement by the Press Secretary to the Speaker of the House, Mr. Tonye Ekong indicates that those nominated are to appear with their credentials, including tax clearance, and birth certificates or affidavits of Age Declaration.
It would be recalled that following the dissolution of local government councils in the state as a result of the expiration of their tenure of office, the state Governor, Sir Celestine Omehia had forwarded names of candidates to the House for screening as members of the caretaker committees.
