An explosion has wrecked part of the residential building of the Deputy leader, Rivers State House of Assembly, Evangelist Hope Ikiriko in Port Harcourt.
The explosion which is suspected to be dynamite only destroyed part of the lawmakers’ building but no life was cost.
Briefing newsmen later in the day, after conducting them round the affected area, Evangelist Ikiriko said the incident occurred in the evening of Wednesday at about few minutes past nine, and disclosed that the matter had already been reported to the police.
He said the incident might not be unconnected to the handiwork of his political enemies and advised those enemies of progress not to take the laws into their hands.
Evangelist Ikiriko, who represents Ahoada-West Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly noted that whoever that is grieved over his election should go to the election tribunal and challenge his victory and not the cruel manner of trying to destroy lives and property.
The lawmaker however appealed to the government and the police to seriously beef-up security of its citizens in the state in view of the increasing criminal activities before it is too late.
According to him, he had been receiving series of phone calls and text messages without unregistered numbers threatening his life and that of his family members before the explosion, and called for police investigation.
