Rivers students in Malaysia: RVHA receives report today

The report of the plight of the Rivers State students in Malaysia will be submitted to the Rivers State House of Assembly on Monday.

This was disclosed by the spokesman of the delegation of the state House of Assembly to Malaysia, Hon Chidi Lloyd, when the delegation arrived the state last week.

Hon Lloyd said on arrival at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa said the report would be submitted on Monday but hinted that the students were in good condition as against reports that the welfare of the students were not taken care of.

The lawmaker who declined to give indepth report, said their findings would be made known on the floor of the House.

The four-man delegation include: Hons. Otelemaba Amachree, Chairman, Chidi Lloyd, D. Dekor secretary and T. Harry.

It would be re-called that in December 2006, the Rivers State Government sent about 250 students to Malaysia on scholarship.

But in recent past there were reports that some of the students faced hardship. Based on this reports, the state House of Assembly appointed a committee headed by Hon Otelemaba Amachree to Malaysia to find out the problems and report back to the Assembly.
